Entropy Topical issue on
Recent Advances in Entanglement and Quantum Information Theory

There has been considerable progress over the last several years in exploring and understanding the entanglement and dynamic organization of both classical and quantum states in several systems.  Quantum entanglement is a physical resource, like energy, associated with the peculiar non-classical correlations that are possible between separated quantum systems. Also, information is always embodied in the state of a physical system, as one may think of the Shannon entropy as quantifying the physical resources required to store classical information. A pair of quantum systems in an entangled state can be used as a quantum information channel to perform computational tasks that are impossible for classical systems. Using the concepts of entanglement and information theory, advancements in material science and computer science have allowed the building, launching and deploying of space exploration systems that continually do more and more as they become smaller and lighter.

The entanglement and quantum information revolution will be described in this special issue by some of the researchers working at the forefront of the field.
The Editors of this Special Issue invite original work reporting on various aspects of quantum entanglement and quantum information including, trapped ions, cold atoms, cavity QED, lasers, quantum optics, characterization and modeling.

Contributed papers are welcome for consideration in this Special Issue. Accepted papers will be published immediately. Finally  a table of contents for this topical issue will be prepared.

Submission Details
Final submission date for all papers is 1 April 2007. Information for authors can be found at http://www.mdpi.org/entropy/publguid.htm.
When submitting please be sure to complete the “Special Issue” section. Papers submitted to this Special Issue will be subject to standard peer review common to all submissions to Entropy (two referees will then check the validity of the articles). Papers can be submitted by e-mail to entropy@mdpi.org and abdelatyquantum@yahoo.co.uk with the subject title “manuscript for Entropy Topical issue on Recent Advances in Entanglement and Quantum Information Theory”.
