Call for Papers

Back to special issue website
Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Guest Editor, Prof. Dr. Chang Won Choi, we would like to invite you to contribute a paper for publication in the Special Issue “Natural Compounds for the Treatment and Prevention of Metabolic Diseases” of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, IJMS (
http://www.mdpi.org/ijms/, ISSN 1422-0067, CODEN: IJMCFK). Papers (both comprehensive review articles and full research papers) are invited.

A number of plant species
worldwide are known to have hyolglycaemic, hypolipidemic or both activities. Despite the presence of known anti-diabetic or anti-lipidemic medicines in the pharmaceutical market, search for new sources from natural plants or resources is still attractive, because they contain substances that have an alternative effect on diabetes mellitus and/or obesity. Numerous studies have been published, though, the natural compounds and their modes of action are not fully understood yet. The objective of this special issue is to provide high quality research results on novel findings of the effects and mechanisms of natural compounds on pathways involved in metabolic diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

Topics of special interest include, but are not strictly limited to, the following:

obestiy, Diabetes Mellitus, glucose metabolism, glycaemic control, hypoglycaemic, hypolipidemic, antihyperlipidemic, antihypercholesterolemia, insulin resistance, cholesterol, triglycerides

The deadline for submissions is set to 31 December 2008. Submitted papers should not have been previously published nor be currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. All papers are refereed through a peer review process. A guide for authors, sample copies and other relevant information for submitting papers are available on the “Instructions for Authors” page.

This thematic special issue will be fully
Open Access with publishing fees paid by authors. Open Access (unlimited access by readers) increases publicity and promotes more frequent citations as indicated by several studies. More information is available at http://www.mdpi.org/oaj-supports.htm. A list of leading review papers can be found at http://www.mdpi.org/ijms/specialissues/ncmetabolic.htm.You may send your manuscript from today on until the 1 May 2008. Accepted papers will be published immediately. On 1 May 2008, all the papers belonging to this special issue will be collected together on a homepage.

For review papers, the title and a short abstract can be sent to [email protected] (copy to  Chang Won Choi,  E-mail: [email protected] as soon as possible.

IJMS maintains a rigorous and fast peer-review system. Because it is an online journal, papers published in IJMS receive very high publicity. This journal is indexed and abstracted very rapidly by the leading indexing and abstracting services including Beilstein, Chemical Abstracts and Science Citation Index Expanded (Web of Science).

Please send your paper by e-mail to [email protected]. The subject title of the message should be "Manuscript for Special Issue
Natural Compounds for the Treatment and Prevention of Metabolic Diseases for IJMS".

Please never hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
