An international nonprofit Swiss Foundation devoted to scientific communication and chemical diversity preservation MDPI was founded in 1996 as a nonprofit organization aimed at chemical diversity preservation and exchange. We launched the e-journal Molecules in 1996 as the first peer-refereed chemistry journal supporting the deposit and exchange of samples. Because a large part of very useful experimental findings have never been published, I also started to preserve the useful information by publishing a new section MolBank (http://www.mdpi.org/molbank/), in addition to the activity to preserve the useful substance (chemical samples have been otherwise frequently disposaled by the retiring chemists). I also launched more journals. Now MDPI is one of the largest publishers of online-only scientific e-journals in the world. In order to promote Molecules, I also started to run e-conference ECSOC (http://www.mdpi.org/ecsoc/). Now we are running several e-conmferences (http://www.mdpi.net/ec-list.htm). Regarding the samples preservation project, I have another introduction message. It is still my favorite business. Many people have continuously supported and joined these projects and collaborated with us. We are looking forward to working together with more people to achieve excellence in scientific communication and diversity preservation. Shu-Kun Lin, Ph.D. |
