As announced during the first I3S meeting in Paris, in June 2003, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, Dr. Huangxian Ju is pleased to confirm that the next I3S conference is going to be held from 29 May to 3 June 2004, at Nanjing University, in Nanjing, which is known for its ancient brilliant culture and is one of the seven great ancient capitals of China. Since the third century Nanjing had intermittently been the capital of ten Dynasties: Eastern Wu Dynasty, the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Southern Dynasties of Song, Qi, Liang, Chen, Southern Tang Dynasty, Ming Dynasty, Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and, during WWWII, the Republic of China.

The special issue of SENSORS devoted to I3S2004 is going to include selected papers presented at the conference.
