Instructions for Authors
Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049) maintains a rigorous peer-review system. There are no publication charges. Accepted papers will be published immediately.
Submission of Manuscripts
- Manuscripts (regular papers and communications) should be submitted in English by e-mail to
Dr. Derek J. McPhee, Managing Editor of Molecules, Uniroyal Chemical Co/Cie., 25 Erb St., Elmira, ON., N3B 3A3, Canada. Phone: +1 (519) 669-1671, xt 355; Fax: +1 (519) 669-1679; E-mail: [email protected]
MolBank Section short notes should be submitted to
Dr. Luc Patiny, MolBank Editor of Molecules, Institute of Organic Chemistry, University Lausanne, ICO-BCH, 1015 Lausanne, Switzerland. Tel : +41 21 692 40 69 (Handy: +41 76 377 3110), Fax : +41 21 692 39 55, Email: [email protected]
- The final accepted and English corrected version of the manuscript must be delivered by e-mail (or by surface mail on diskette together with one print copy) directly by the authors to
MS Word (all versions) file is preferred. Manuscripts prepared with another software and computer may export the full text (with figures, schemes and tables inserted into the text) to a MS Word format (either for Macintosh or for Windows). Times or Times New Roman font is preferred.
Special Notes regarding MS Word file:
-Please do not insert any graphics (schemes, figures, etc.) into a movable frame which can superimpose the text and make the layout very difficult.
-Most formatting codes should be removed or replaced on processing your article so there is no need for you to use excessive layout styling. In addition, do not use options such as automatic word breaking, justified layout, double columns, automatic paragraph numbering (especially for numbered references) or EndNote. However, do use bold face, italic, subscripts, superscripts, etc.
- The copyright of published paper: We will insert the following footnote on the first page:

Manuscript Preparation
- Manuscripts should be prepared with a word processor. The printing area is 17.5cmX24.7cm. For A4 paper, have margins of 1.5 cm on top, 3.5cm at the bottom and1.75 cm on both left and right sides of the paper. For US letter-sized paper, have margins of 1.5 cm on top, 1.74 cm at the bottom and 2.05 cm on both left and right sides.
- The paper style of Molecules should be followed. You may download a sample paper and a template file from Molecules homepage. The full titles and the cited papers can be given. The style of Journal of Chemical Information and Computer Sciences is also acceptable. However, reference numbers should be placed in square brackets [ ], and placed before the punctuation; for example [4] or [1-3], and all the references should be listed separately and as the last section at the end of the manuscript.
Journal references must cite the title of the paper and its starting and ending pages, thus

References to books should cite the authors(s), title, publisher, publication date, and page.
9. Smith, A. B. Textbook of Organic Chemistry; D. C. Jones: New York, 1961; pp 123-126.
In referring to a book written by various contributors, cite authors(s) first, as in

A list of journal abbreviations is available at the http://www.mdpi.org/molecules/journallist.htm website.
- Authors' full address, homepage address, phone and fax numbers, e-mail address and homepage can be included in the title page and these will be published.
- A list of three to five keywords must be given, and placed after the Abstract.
- Authors are encouraged to prepare figures and schemes in color. Full color graphics will be published free of charge. Conference slides, videosequences, software, etc., can be included and published as supplementary material.
- Tables should be inserted into the main text, and numbers and titles for all tables supplied. All table columns should have an explanatory heading.
- Please supply legends for all figures, schemes and tables. The legends should be prepared as a separate paragraph of the main text and placed in the main text before a table and after a figure or a scheme.
Referees
The author should suggest at least three referees with the appropriate technical expertise, although the Editor will not necessarily approach them. Their addresses, homepage addresses, phone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses should be provided as fully as possible.
Reprints
Printed reprints may be ordered. The authors will have a free subscription to the online edition of the journal. Electronic file of the published paper can be distributed by the authors for noncommercial purposes.
Publication Charge
Authors can voluntarily fund the publication of their papers by payment of page charges. However, the acceptance of a paper for publication is based solely on its scientific merit and completely independent of the authors' willingness to contribute a fee to defray the publications costs. Authors who have supported our projects of deposit of authentic samples through MDPI will be considered to have paid the publication charges "in kind".
The article charge (voluntarily paid) for publishing in this journal is $50 US dollars per page, with discounts available for papers exceeding 10 pages in length and for review papers. Invoices will be sent to authors who agree to contribute publication charge, after publication. Pyment in US dollars or Swiss francs should be made directly to MDPI.
Samples Deposit and Exchange
Authors are encouraged to register or submit samples of the relevant compounds to MDPI in Switzerland for deposit and distribution at a reasonable price. Include in the last paragraph in the "References and Notes" the Sample Availability information. For details, visit: http://www.mdpi.org/.
